Even though the title maybe EB-3, if the requirements exceed normal requirements for jobs in Job Zone 4 then after a (successful) business necessity audit the candidate maybe able to file in EB2. After all I don't think DOL is that brain-dead (yet?) to say that somebody with 15 yrs exp is the same as somebody with 1 yr exp although they have the same job title (E.g. Software Engineer title at Google generally has more experience and education than a software engineer title at a desi consulting company even though both fall in job zone 4
Solar power here has inadvertently opened Pandora's box in the process of trying to solve a genuine cause for concern. For most IT people it is going to be very tough to get EB2 classification (especially if you are just out of school and have decided to apply for a green card). It is better for them to look out for research positions and apply under Computer Scientists as this will atleast enable them to apply under EB2. Is this a good thing: If you are non-IT yes, if you are IT no as it just convoluted the process even more.

If this information exists in their system, and if all IO's make it transparent to the caller in the first call itself, i am sure the call volume will drop to atleast one tenth of what it is currently... and subsequently, the congressman requests, ombudsman requests will also reduce which inturn WOULD MEAN THAT THEY GET TO FOCUS MORE ON THE CASES AND IMPROVE THEIR PRODUCTIVITY AS WELL AS COMPETENCE!!!

Most makes sense but I don't think any candidates wait for their companies to file for EB1. EB1s can be filed by the candidates themselves. Right? All in all, if this happens, it will be good news for atleast a couple of 1000 EB2-I. :D
EB1A/EB1B does not need but EB1C needs employer and was exploited by the Indian companies to the max. possible extend for the so called global managers

Vow!!!..u got ur GC within 5 yrs of landing in US..congratulations. That was the fastest GC i ever heard.
I know many who have got GC within 1 year of landing in US, same skill sets but are "Program Managers" in Indian IT firms or are with MNC's based out in Hyd, Blore who are site under H1B for projects but filed their GC's under EB1. I know 11 guys now, 4 more have got since I last updated IV with this bogus GC filing under EB1 category.....almost all are either "Working" as developers or Analyst but have special designation and skill sets 'SPECIFIED while filing GC....

We could also do a signature/petition campaign that would focus on 'American Citizens' supporting our effort. We should aim at getting a lot of signatures. Afterall there have to be hundreds of thousands of formerly H1B holders who are citizens now; at least they would support our effort.
Excellent idea JBR. Why don't you create a letter template and put it in IV. If we have the facility to sign electronically, it will be nice. Later, it can be sent electronically to all Congress Members. Let us try to create a slogan for our campaign. Any IV member can shed their ideas on this.

We are running a small funding drive as a gesture of support IV for answering each other's questions in times of need.
If your question is answered by a fellow member, do make a point to contribute some amount. It will help continue this effort.
We understand everyone is busy with I485 filing and have put everything on hold. But we have not put our efforts on hold in the interest of this communty and this cause. Core is working on this issue despite being busy on their own I485 filing.
We are also working with our lobbyists on CIR and as soon as there is an action item we will post it on the forum for all to participate.
At this time, do take out a couple of minutes off your busy schedule with I485 filing and contribute towards Immigrationvoice.

No, the idea is; if you cry for gold you will atleast get silver. When the point is raised that people have been living here legally, paying taxes, SS, owning houses etc etc for 10 years!! what more is actually needed for citizenship?? The idea is to highlight that legal residents (many of them) have been here for ever!! 10 years is almost 15% of an average life span!! If only this thing is highlighted in some strong news papers. Isn't this protectionism at its worst. US is complaining about labor laws in China???? What the heck is this here??? You pay taxes and SS and medicare etc for 10 years and then you are asked to leave??????????? Isn't this slavery??? Either take of the requirement that workers on visas have to pay the required SS / medicare etc or assume responsibility for having taken their hard earned money and let them in as soon as possible into the society.
Giving an "expedited citizenship" is not like giving a stimulus check.
